The first International Workshop on M2M Technology will be held by Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center (Intel-NTU Center) to build a vision that defines the future M2M technologies. Recently, M2M (machine-to-machine) or IOT (internet of things) has attracted a lot of attention because it is generally believed that the development of this technology will impact the world tremendously in every aspect such as energy saving, intelligent transportation, healthcare, food production, environment monitoring, anti-terrorism, smart living space, etc. According to a report from Harbor Research, “M2M will drive the largest organic growth opportunity in the history of business.” In fact, it is regarded that M2M will spark the next ICT revolution based on the 15-year golden rule of the ICT industry after PC’s and internet (of people). Clearly, the scale (trillions) of M2M or IOT will be several orders of magnitude larger than that (billions) of the current internet, posing serious challenges to researchers and industries in future decades. Therefore it is the intention of Intel-NTU Connected Context Computing Center (Intel-NTU Center) to set-up a platform, the International Workshop on M2M Technology (IWMT), to bring together key researchers from all over the world to build a vision that shapes future M2M technologies. Keynote speakers include people from Industries (Intel and IBM), research institutes (IMEC), and universities (Delft University of Technology, UCLA, Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Maryland, Princeton University, Technische Universität Dresden) covering topics from M2M computing (on chip and in the cloud), M2M healthcare, M2M energy harvesting/saving, M2M communications, M2M data source/analysis/management, M2M platforms, to M2M applications. We sincerely invite you to participate in this exciting and prestigious event! |
